I’ve learned an important lesson during this recent Libra season. The value of truly putting myself first in order to be better for others.
My role as wife and mother are the most important in my life. And I love giving 110% to nurturing and taking care of my family. And I am also quite driven and focused on growing my work and business. But, that doesn’t often give me much time to just be, take care of or give to myself. I’m sure this resonates with many of you reading this, especially my fellow mothers. But with the major upheavals, changes and additional stresses and uncertainties that have come with this year, I’ve realized just how vital putting my own self-care first is to keeping the peace and harmony in my life and relationships. At the Virgo New Moon I set a new intention to make more time for myself, and my own health and wellness, to better nurture my mind, body and spirit. I knew in theory that it could help me improve in all areas of my life, but after the last couple of months of serious dedication to my new routine, I can actually see and feel the positive results. By making and keeping my commitment to exercising and meditating for even just 10 minutes every morning, not only do I feel accomplished and productive, I am also less stressed or reactionary throughout my day. It's truly been a win, win, win. The other thing I've committed to doing more of is getting out in nature on a regular basis, and removing myself from social media, television, and outside sources of information, to reconnect with my own thoughts and beliefs. I'm finding this really helps me ground in my own integrity and maintain a healthier mindset and balance in my life. And the quality time spent out under the stars with my husband and son truly makes me feel even more lucky, loved and blessed. Side note, Camping really lifts my spirits too. It's nice to get away from everyone and everything, but when you do meet people at campgrounds there just seems to be a different energy about them. They can come from all walks of life, and I'm sure they have all kinds of diverse views, faiths and opinions, but non of it seems to matter. Everyone is friendly, helpful, respectful and totally seems the get the value of community. Or at least how to happily coexist for a time with others they don't really know. I don’t know if it’s the fresh air, the beautiful views, and the sounds of the elements that seem to smooth the tensions, or if everyone has come for the same reason, to escape the madness of everyday reality, and just experience a little peace and quiet. But either way, it truly gives me hope for humanity. Bottom line, I did a meditation recently titled, “Blessed, Not Stressed” and it inspired this share. After it I couldn’t help but think of how my recent efforts are actually what has been facilitating and growing more of a sense of peace, harmony and happiness within in me even as we move through such a stressful time in our history. I know I am blessed. And this Libra season I’ve come to realize the nature of real balance and the true benefits of maintaining it in my daily life. And for me, I've found the biggest and most life saving benefits in releasing and lowering stress through exercise, meditation and getting out in nature. So on this Libra New Moon, I am sharing what I've learned and setting my intentions to continue these commitments I've made and proven to be worth my efforts. It’s never too late to consider what you can do to ensure you are feeling more blessed and less stressed in your own life, and today's Libra New Moon is a great time to start. Nurture the Nature - for your well Being!
